Forest Heights community of Kitchener is a great place to live with booming real estate, some great schools that I’ll touch on in this video, and a whole lot more. Keep watching as I take you through the Best of Waterloo Region.
Forest Heights is located on the west side of Kitchener and no matter where you are in the neighbourhood, you’re only about a five minute drive from the expressway. Things here have really blown up over the last ten years especially with the development of Ira Needles Boulevard and all of the commercial business along its route.
The Real Estate here has been on the rise in recent years and prices are starting to soar. Forest Heights held onto their affordability a little longer than some other spots in town but with all of the schools, the proximity to the expressway, and the new path down Ira Needles into Waterloo, it’s no wonder that people are starting to flock to this neighbourhood. I loved growing up here and it always takes me on a great little walk down memory lane. If you ever have any questions about Forest Heights, please feel free to fire them my way and I’ll do my best to answer them for you.

You may be surprised at all of the greenery this little suburb of Forest Heights has to offer. There’s a large trail, the Forest Heights community trail that wind through and around a lot of the neighbourhood. It takes you by Yellow Birch park, through Forest West park, and by a couple of the local schools. It’s a great trail to walk or bike and experience a bit of nature. If nature’s your thing, there are also two wooded areas, Westheights Park and Trailview Park right next to each other, and a third across Ira Needles, called Waldau Park. They all offer a chance to feed some ducks or catch a bit of wildlife. And like any great neighbourhood, Forest Heights is sprinkled with playgrounds, parks, and walking trails to keep the whole family active.
All of The Region of Waterloo here!
When searching for homes, my clients always have a list of questions and concerns but knowing what their options are for their kid’s education is always top of the list. Luckily, Forest Heights is loaded with schools and considering the size of this community, they’re all pretty accessible. For elementary schools, there’s Driftwood Park Public School, my Alma Mater, John Darling, Meadowlane, and Saint. Mark’s Catholic school. Saint Mark’s goes all the way up to the eighth grade but for the public school students, there’s a middle school taking you through grades six, seven, and eight called Westheights Public School. Following that, it’s onto Forest Heights Collegiate Institute right here in the community unless you’re looking to stick with the Catholic School Board, in which case it’s onto Resurrection or Saint Mary’s high schools.
These things are important to a lot of home buyers but don’t worry, your Realtor will be able to tell you everything you need to know about the local schools and their districts… and don’t worry, if you don’t know an agent, I do ☺
