Idlewood Lackner Woods is on the East side of Kitchener just south of Breslau and right next to Cambridge. Not so long ago, a large bridge was completed taking Fairway Road over the Grand River and onto Fountain Street. This area was already exploding with real estate but since the passage to Cambridge was opened, this area has seen demand sky rocket. The Region of Waterloo International Airport is about a five to ten minute drive from here and commuters have been taking advantage of another route to Guelph, highway twenty-four, and the 401. While this community is a bit smaller than a lot of the others in the Region, it still has tons to offer.
There’s a ton of small parks and trails in-and-around the area of Idlewood Lackner Woods, most notably, there’s the Grand River Trail which follows the Grand around the neighbourhood. You can find some lovely scenery if you follow Idlewood Creek which flows off the Grand River and through Springmount Park. There’s Idlewood Park Natural Area, Briarfield Park, and the Grand River Natural Area too! There are also a few playgrounds sprinkled in here and there, and the whole neighbourhood is right beside Chicopee Ski Hill which offers even more hiking and biking trails.
If you’re thinking of Moving to Kitchener.
I know if you’re thinking of moving to Idlewood Lackner Woods, you’re going to want to know about the options for your children’s education. Well don’t worry, despite the size of the neighbourhood, there are still quite a few schools around, namely, Chicopee Hills Public School, Lackner Woods Public School, Saint John Paul the Second, and in the neighbouring hood of Grand River North, you’ll find the local high school, Grand River Collegiate Institute. When looking for homes, we always take a peek at what school district the properties lie in and then map out how far a walk or drive it would be for the kids to get to school.
